New Eve

a penny whistle wakens spirits' rest,
while wind swings trees
on the morning he came and saw
the people gathered,
to remember His coming
this morning, new in the light of life.

to the King, the Master,
the Ruler of wholeness

call you to look through your eyes,
hear His voice guide your days,

launched to float in seas
violent and cold, small
struggling in, deepest grey
washing up on decks, steely frost
covering, the life boats soaking
the lines weathered
all that holds safe the cargo
it's too late to challenge your faith
in the course you set.
Now only do you know:
did you have it before you sailed?

cursing the earth, driving evil ahead
my path leaving evil in my wake.
Working to make right as I work, dreaming
Effort succeeding only in my mind,
I am wrong and can not change, but try.
Believing in Him. Trusting, humbly asking,

power is a chain when worn without trust
taken without knowing what is to be.
This power tears at the fiber,
decays the heart and drives one mad,
erasing them from the world they wish to hold,
never feeling, never knowing, never accepting Power.

Fearing discovery,
judging her worth, words,
her actions. Hidding from the world
on a hill standing, shadowing
her faith, covering the cross
weighing heavy on her breast.
